When YHWH gave the Torah to Moses, it was a personal and real experience – not just for Moses – but for the entire community of Israel. Not just for them but for us ‘now’, as well.
When we read and study scripture, we must have the right perspective, and the perspective is a personal perspective, “YHWH is actually and directly talking to me!”
YHWH is right here where I am, right there where you are. Talking to me; talking to you. Explaining to you what happened to the community of Israel, how to live, how to line up with his Torah, what happens to you when you do and what happens to you when you don’t.
If you are truly grafted into Israel through Yahshua, then He is always present, literally, whether you sense His presence or not, whether He manifests to you or not – He is always present.
You might call this “relationship theology” because YHWH desires – NO – He DEMANDS and REQUIRES a relationship with you and me.
We must be careful not to “intellectualize” Him or get in an “analyzing” mode in regards to Him or His Torah. The focus is having a “relationship” with HIM. Like a father spending time with his children, a husband with his wife, developing a relationship. This is how we ‘get close’ to Elohim.
I remember TV shows in the 50’s and 60’s like “Father Knows Best,” “Make Room For Daddy,” “Leave It To Beaver,” and “The Cosby Show.”
The focus was on relationship and character development. Isn’t that what our Heavenly Father is doing? He is developing a Hebrew character in us by developing a Holy (set apart) relationship with you and me.
I believe D’varim (Deuteronomy) is the most important book of Moses because the Father is right there, right where you are, speaking to you and me as individuals and as a family, like a family meeting. He is preparing us for a transition from adolescence to adulthood, giving us instruction and commissioning us as we step out into our purpose, our mission; our life quest.
And just like a father He continually drives home this one critical thought, “Remember, do not forget what I taught you.” A fathers’ heartfelt words to keep us on track; to keep us on the straight and narrow path. He is teaching us to “Shema,” to listen, pay attention, obey and trust Him.

Natural disasters are rapidly occurring with increased intensity that has never been recorded before…tornadoes, earthquakes, hail storms, tsunamis, and hurricanes of late have been unprecedented. Tens of thousands of lives have been changed forever in just a matter of moments.
With the same intensity, spiritual darkness has rapidly infiltrated the Church, the Messianic Hebrew Roots Movement, and Judaism as well. Did you notice that I didn’t include any of the other “isms” that we know to be off track? Yes, those considered “main stream” today, are being bombarded with a myriad of thoughts, ideas and opinions about the Father’s Word—that are not His Words. False doctrines are surfacing so rapidly that it is becoming quite daunting to find the “razor’s edge” truth. Weeding through all of the spiritual clutter to find the truth can be particularly difficult if one does not have a solid Scriptural foundation or a familiarity with the origins of certain teachings.
Everywhere you turn there is a “NEW” teaching that sounds good…at least on the surface…it tickles the ears…but when you dig a little deeper, many times you’ll find that these teachings don’t come close to lining up with Scripture. Although they may contain a “measure of truth,” at best they are a mixture that leads to lukewarm-ness in the Holy One’s eyes.
It’s called syncretism, the meaning of which is: “Reconciliation or fusion of differing systems of belief, as in philosophy or religion, especially when success is partial or the result is heterogeneous.” It’s a MIXTURE!
This is my impression about how the Father views syncretism / mixture / lukewarm-ness: What makes you think you can come up here to My throne room and get My attention and have a relationship with Me if you don’t desire me only…don’t even try it. (Mind you, this is my expression.)
Most people can quote John 3:16, but few quote Revelation 3:16 where He said, “So,because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spit you out of my mouth.” (ESV)
None of these lukewarm (false) doctrines and teachings are new. We know from Scripture that “…there is nothing new under the sun” (Ecclesiastes 1:9). They are just a re-make of the same old lie with a different twist – made to deceive “if it were possible” even the very elect.

“So Solomon, observed the festival at that time for sevendays, and all Israel with him--a vast assembly, people from Lebo Hamath to the Wadi of Egypt. On the eighth day they held an assembly, for they had celebrated the dedication of the altar for seven days and the festival for seven days more. On the twenty-third day of the seventh monthhe sent the people to their homes, joyful and glad in heart for the good thingsYahweh had done for David and Solomon and for his people Israel. When Solomon had finished the temple of Yahwehand the royal palace, and had succeeded in carrying out all he had in mind to do in the temple of Yahweh and in his ownpalace, Yahweh appeared to him at night and said: "I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for myself as a temple for sacrifices. When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will healtheir land.” (2 Chronicles 7:8-14)
Most of us know the main theme ofthis scripture. “If my people…” but the context is what really needs to be examined.
Solomon “observed the festival at that time for seven days, and all Israel with him.”I believe that this festival is Sukkot; the Feast of Tabernacles.
Not only did Yahweh tabernacle or dwell in the temple that Solomon built, He dwelt with and in His people on the Feast of Tabernacles. Notice the phrase ‘Feast of Tabernacles.’ Tabernacles, is plural meaning more than one tabernacle or booth; more than one dwelling place.
Although the temple has been destroyed, Yahweh now dwells with us as His Temple. So now we are the people who are called by His name because He dwells within us.
So here we are; in the year 2013.
The locusts of sin, disobedience; witchcraft are now prevailing over our society.
There is a drought; no rain. The drought is not only physical rain it is also a spiritual drought of the reign of Yahweh over our land, our country and the people. We are suffering a plagueof physical sickness and spiritual sickness of reprobation; the hearts and minds of people are filled with evil and perversion.
It is time; no it is past time for ‘we the people who are called by his name’ to humble ourselves and pray and seek the face of Yahweh, turn from our sins and repent of the sins of our family, our friends, our city, our county, our state and our country. We need to stand in the gap and represent the people of our country who have gone astray because we have all gone astray. We also need to repent of the sins of Israel; the land; Israel the nation and Israel the people. We who are called ‘by his name’ are also Israel becausewe have been grafted into the true Israel.
As the world grows darker the light of Yeshua in us must grow brighter as we humble ourselves before the Elohim of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Only then will He heal our land.
‘Heal our Land.’ That’s an interesting phrase.
I was a Hospital corpsman in the Navy. I learned that sometimes a wound or infected tissue must scraped and removed, then the rest of the wound must be disinfected and cleansed in order for it to heal.
We as a people and a nation must go through the process of being scraped so that what must be removed is removed. Then we must be disinfected and cleansed so that we the people; the nation can heal.
So let us humble ourselves and cling to Yahweh as we endure the healing process. It is the only way that ‘we the people’ can endure to the end.
Remember, if we are truly ‘called by His name’, first we must ‘know His name’ and second ‘hear His name’ when it is called.

Betrothed by Douglas A. Wheeler:
a review by Byron Lambert
"Betrothed" by Douglas A. Wheeler, is a practical and easily understood guide to experiencing intimacy in our relationship with God through Yeshua Messiah/Jesus Christ. Starting with 2 Peter 1:1-5, Dr. Douglas takes the reader back to the original thoughts, language and scriptures as originally written; then explains the meaning of words that through translation have missed their mark in conveying the real meaning that they were intended to express. Writing in an easy style that is thorough but not overly stuffy, Dr. Wheeler gives substance to written words from ideas to concrete concepts. Clearing away a millennium’s worth of manmade religious confusion by presenting the simple truth: God wants to know and love each of us intimately every second, every micro second, of our life, not only here and now but throughout eternity.
Using Peter’s written words of encouragement, Dr. Wheeler then explains from Genesis the unfolding adventure of our Creator as he created the human race to fellowship and to partner with him as a friend and steward of creation. He gives an overview of how Adam and Eve’s choice caused him to move the history of human kind through Mt. Sinai to Calvary to bring man to the fellowship of intimacy that he created for all of us to experience. God did this through the concept of betrothal at Mt. Sinai. Dr. Wheeler’s concise explanation of the Hebrew concept of being betrothed brings illumination to the life and teachings of Yeshua/Jesus, his death, resurrection and soon coming return for his betrothed bride, the body Messiah/Christ.
It is through the love of God that all of us are transformed and delivered from the law of sin and death to the law of life. The Hebrew word for love is 'avavah'. It expresses the love of our Creator for each of us. The eternal desire of affection that our Creator has for us is expressed through Grace, or 'chesed', a word that reveals a deeper longing for each of us than most of us have learned in our traditional Christian teachings. It is only in understanding what love and grace really mean to God—what God intended them to mean to us—that we can experience the love and grace God intends for us to experience and allow God‘s love to change us, to change our relationship with our families, spouses, sons, daughters, and friends and neighbors—to not only what God created these relationships for, but for them to become a blessing far above what we could hope or think for them. (Eph. 3:20).
True love, real grace, and complete shalom/peace are not supposed to be ideas thought about or hoped for in a ‘perfect’ or ‘future’ world. These are every-day, every-moment realities that our Abba Father wants, longs, to pour into us and impart to others through our savior Yeshua Messiah/ Jesus Christ. They only become realities when we understand what the process of our betrothal is from God’s perspective and plan. Every generation born has to come to God and experience him for themselves, for he is the living God, and his desire is to give life, blessing, love, grace and mercy to each of us. To experience these realities,we have to embrace his covenant life. Dr. Wheeler’s thoughtful and easy explanation and guide to the principals of covenant and betrothal will be a blessing to anyone who has a heart to know their Creator and experience the love of God.

"He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." [Isaiah 40:29 - 31.]
Sukkot is not only a season of 'gathering' it is also a season of protection. Have you ever seen a chicken protecting it's chicks or an eagle protecting it's eaglets? It's wings cover it's little ones and the little ones scurry to hide under it's wings.
This is a picture of Sukkot where the 'little ones,' the children of Israel spend their effort scurrying around preparing to 'hide' in their booths; their tabernacles; their sukkahs of cloth and branches, representing the covering of Elohim; the wings of Elohim.
As we run to YHWH individually; as a family; as a nation [Israel]; as the bride of the Messiah during Sukkot, we stand in hope waiting, huddling together under the mighty wings of our Father, our creator, our King. And as we draw close to Him, our strength is renewed, our cares are calmed and our fears fade away.
Our strength and courage through Torah rises and we begin to mount up, we are lifted up on His wings on the realization of who He is.
And as we trust and obey [shema] Him we will be able to run through the wilderness of tribulation and not be weary and not faint.
Through trust, obedience and through the observance of Sukkot and ALL of His festivals and instructions, YHWH Elohim is teaching us to hope, trust, be patient and endure. He is teaching us to wait on Him.

You may be thinking, “I’ve been a believer for a long time and I know my Bible.” Well, we’re admonished to study to show ourselves approved unto God in 2 Timothy 2:15 which states, “Do your best to present yourself to Elohim as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.” This is a continuing process and lasts for a lifetime. It’s how we grow from faith to faith and from glory to glory.
There is a very important Festival that’s nearly here. It’s called by many names, the most common ones being “The Feast of Tabernacles” or “Sukkot,” or “Booths.” I’ll refer to it as Sukkot or the Feast of Tabernacles.
Why is Sukkot so important? It teaches us about Yahweh’s Divine protection. We camp out in the “wilderness” in booths…a very temporary dwelling…and He protects us just like he did the Children of Israel when they left Egypt and camped out in the wilderness.
In this modern world, we have access to many options for self-preservation. However, He said if YOU try to save YOUR life, YOU will loose it. That’s not to say that we should not seek Him for wisdom about how we should prepare as we see danger approaching. However, it seems all too often that we take the reigns out of His hands and go overboard trying to protect ourselves. Yes, we can build a fortress and stockpile it to the brim with food and weapons, etc; but never forget, Dear One, that He’s the only One Who can and will protect us if we are OBEDIENT to His Word. Our fortress can be hit by a bunker busting bomb, and our land can be taken in the twinkling of an eye by eminent domain or redistricting as a flood plain, etc. So don’t put your trust in what YOU can do, put your trust in what HE can do.
The Feast of Tabernacles teaches us to trust him. In our temporary dwelling, He walks throughout the camp speaking words of love, encouragement, and shalom. He’s our pillar of cloud by day and our pillar of fire by night. This feast is training for our wedding day. Not only is it an exercise in trusting His protection, it speaks of the great ingathering.
This ingathering is like no other. It’s greater than the Exodus from Egypt. WOW!
Jeremiah 23:7-8 reads, “Therefore, behold the days are coming, declared Yahweh, when they shall no longer say, As Yahweh lives who brought up the people of Israel out of the land of Egypt, but ‘As Yahweh lives who brought up and led the offspring of the house of Israel out of the north country and out of ALL the countries where he had driven them.’ Then they shall dwell in their own land.”
Ezekiel 37:19-22 states, “…Thus says Yahweh Elohim: Behold, I am about to take the stick of Joseph (that is in the hand of Ephraim) and the tribes of Israel associated with him. And I will join with it the stick of Judah, and make them one stick that they may be one in my hand. When the sticks on which you write are in your hand before their eyes, then say to them, Thus says Yahweh Elohim: Behold, I will take the people of Israel from the nations among which they have gone, and will gather them from all around, and bring them to their own land. And I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel. And one king shall be king over them all, and they shall be no longer two nations, and no longer divided into two kingdoms.”
A future Feast of Tabernacles will be an ingathering to celebrate Messiah’s rule on the earth.
Romans 12:2 proclaims, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of Elohim, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
Deuteronomy 30:1-4, “And when all these things come upon you, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before you, and you call them to mind among all the nations where Yahweh your Elohim has driven you, and return to Yahweh your Elohim, you and your children, and obey his voice in all that I command you today, with all your heart and with all your soul, then Yahweh your Elohim will restore your fortunes and have compassion on you, and he will ‘GATHER YOU AGAIN FROM ALL THE PEOPLES’ where Yahweh your Elohim has scattered you. If your outcasts are in the uttermost parts of heaven, from there Yahweh your Elohim will GATHER YOU, and from there he will take you.”
Remember, Beloved, He truly is our hiding place as spoken by David in Psalm 31:20 and Psalm 32:7.
Ps. 31:20, “In the cover of your presence you hide them from the plots of men; you store them in your shelter [TABERNACLE] from the strife of tongues.
Ps. 32:7, “You are a hiding place for me; you preserve me from trouble; you surround me with shouts of deliverance.”
Ps. 27:5, "For he will hide me in his shelter [sukkah] in the day of trouble; he will conceal me under the cover of his tent; he will lift me high upon a rock."
Keeping the Feasts is important!
Think on these things.

Through years of reading and studying the Bible, there were many times when questions would pop into my mind that I just couldn’t answer. And when I’d ask someone like a pastor or Bible teacher what certain Scripture verses meant, they’d respond with what seemed to be pat answers. At other times, I’d hear different pastors and teachers give several different interpretations of the same passage of Scripture.
Needless to say, it became frustrating so I found myself just skipping over those portions of Scripture and pushing the questions onto the back burner in my mind. Sometimes I even thought I was losing my mind because I just couldn’t make any sense out of what I was reading.
But Yahweh had mercy and led me into studying the “Hebraic Roots” of the Christian faith. One day, while I was reading the Scriptures a verse seemed to leap off the page. It was Yirmeyahu(Jeremiah) 33:3 which says, “Call to Me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.” Indeed, these past few years have been like sitting under a fire hose.
He has revealed more truth to me in just the last two years alone than in all the twenty-seven years combined since I received salvation. It has been a phenomenal journey into His Word. The more I learn, the more I realize I don’t know. I feel like I’ve only started to scratch a tiny part of the surface.
My desire is to provoke you to search theScriptures for yourself and study with a Hebraic mindset rather than a Western, Greco-Roman mindset, because there is much buried treasure in the Hebrew culture and language that has been lost in translation.

Christians do not intentionally worship idols, but have been duped into believing man-made holidays are an acceptable form of worship. The belief is that these holidays have been Christianized regardless of their pagan origin.
However, the Scriptures warn that we are to “learn NOT the way of the heathen” according to Jeremiah 10:2. We are not to worship our God in the same way the heathens worship their god; and we’re not to put any other god’s in His face.
“Thou shalt have no other gods before me.” (Exodus 20:3)
How did Pagans celebrate this season before Christ was born?
• Raucous partying
• Gluttonous eating and drinking
• Singing, dancing and nocturnal orgies
• Merrymaking; singers & dancers (called the Mummers) dressed in costumes and traveled from house to house entertaining their neighbors
• Businesses closed
• Yule logs were burned to honor the sun
• Mistletoe used as a fertility ritual
• Holly berries thought to be food of the gods
• Evergreen trees brought into homes
• Holly, ivy and bay used for decorating shrines and other sacred places
How do Christians celebrate Christmas?
• Christmas parties
• Gluttonous eating and drinking
• Gift-giving (akin to consumerism on steroids)
• Special Christmas songs
• Christmas carolers entertain their neighbors from house to house.
• Christmas pageants are performed
• Nearly ALL businesses are closed
• Yule logs are burned
• Mistletoe is considered okay by many
• A special plant (Poinsettia) is used for decoration
• Evergreen trees brought into churches foyers and alters, and homes where they are decorated lavishly.
• Holly wreaths are used for decoration
The similarities are quite compelling.
Yes, it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas (paganism) everywhere you go…
What’s in your Bible?
Can you find Christmas in your Bible? No, you cannot because it’s not in there. It was introduced in the 4th century by the Roman Emperor, Constantine, as a way to encourage pagans to convert to Christianity. Although keeping the pagan customs and practices, Christian meanings were INVENTED for this holiday. They were told to worship the Son of God instead of the sun god.
Eccl 7:29, “Lo, this only have I found, that God hath made man upright [righteous], but they have sought out many inventions.”
When men seek their own inventions and do things their way instead of God’s way, they end up “falling away” from the Truth.
Deu 12:30, “Take heed to thyself that thou be not snared by following them, after that they be destroyed from before thee; and that thou inquire not after their gods, saying, How did these nations serve their gods? Even so will I do likewise.”
We are created for His pleasure according to Revelation 4:11 and when you think about it, isn’t it rather arrogant for us to decide how we’re going to worship our Creator…especially in light of the fact that He’s been gracious and loving enough to tell us how to worship Him?
Rev 4:11, “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.”
If we are created for His pleasure, shouldn’t we at least attempt to find out what pleases Him? Are we pleasing Him and giving glory and honor to His name when we worship him according to man-made pagan traditions. He wants us to worship him in spirit and in truth…in the beauty of holiness.
John 4:24, “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”
Psa 29:2, “Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.”

It’s like watching a soap opera on TV. I call it, “As The World Churns.” The plot thickens, the drama intensifies; each character plays their role well.
However, this time the scenes are real; the people and their experiences are very real. Prophesy and scripture are being played our right before our eyes.
All the while, thoughts appear in our minds, “Are we apart of this? Are we involved? Is this really happening?”
To all the questions, the answer is a disturbing YES.
What do we do now?
Repent and Pray. Repent of our sins and the sins of America. And pray for Jerusalem and stand for Israel.
Pray for America? Absolutely, yes.
Because the sin of our nation; the sin of America, it’s political posture against Israel, and it’s social standards of unrighteousness, impurity, paganism and rebellion.
It should be obvious that the penalty of the sins of America has already fallen on us. Tornadoes, floods, droughts, economic despair, national debt, growing poverty, Sharia law and troubles that are intensifying every day are clear signs.
What shall we do? This is what we have to do: Recognize, Repent, Commit, Pray, Obey and Stand.
RECOGNIZE the sin of breaking Yahweh’s (God’s) instruction, written in the Torah.
ADMIT the sin. Yes, admit that we have sinned, we have broken Yahweh’s instructions; His commandments and turned against His Holy Land and His Holy People; ISRAEL.
REPENT from sin; turn from what we have done and turn back to Yahweh Elohim; the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
COMMIT to a life of obedience; follow Yahweh’s laws and be Holy unto Him.
OBEY and do the will of our Father in Heaven which is written in His scriptures.
PRAY for the peace of Jerusalem; that Israel will be Echad; one new man in Messiah; the bride without spot or wrinkle.
STAND for what is right; STAND against the enemy no matter what! “ For we overcome the devil by the blood of the lamb and by the word of our testimony; loving not our lives unto death. Rev.12:11.”
